power of attorney

Should you, or a relative, make Power of Attorney? How would you manage if you were to become incapable of managing your own affairs? If a power of attorney is made, it allows you to appoint one or more people to be able to manage your affairs if you become unable or unwilling to manage them yourself. Obviously it is most important only to appoint someone as your attorney if you have complete trust in them.

If you become unable or unwilling to manage your own affairs but do not have a power of attorney, then it would be necessary for a much more cumbersome, slower and more expensive application to the Public Guardianship Office to appoint a receiver.

We would discuss the issues with you before proceeding, and determine whether it might be right in your circumstances.
